About me and my approach

My journey into therapy began through my own lived experience of grief & adverse childhood experiences. These early challenging experiences led me to develop a special interest in childhood trauma and how it can shape emotional wellbeing, self worth, relationships, chronic illness & coping behaviours/patterns in adulthood.

I also bring a deep personal understanding of grief. In teenage years, I lost my close friend to Leukaemia, and later on experienced the early loss of both my parents to cancer. These experiences shaped my passion for supporting others through bereavement and emotional pain. They deepened my knowledge and interest in how the relationship we have, with those we lose, can influence the way we process loss.

My Approach to Grief and loss

My understanding of grief and loss extends beyond bereavement, and includes the grief that can come with chronic illness, changes in health and shifts in identity. Theses experiences can bring their own sense of loss, and can deeply affect how we see ourselves and our place in the world.

My own experience of therapy was transformative and inspired me to retrain professionally so I could help others on their own healing journey.

I trained with the Kent institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy, where I gained my certificates and Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy. Along with a specialist certification in Hypnoanalysis. I went on to complete my level 4 in counselling skills & theory and continue to develop my practice through ongoing professional development and experience.

Alongside my private work, for two years, I supported students for The kent institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy. Prior to this I volunteered with Cruse bereavement for just over a year.

Before retraining as a therapist, I worked as a police emergency call handler and dispatcher. This role strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, actively listen and support people during highly emotional and often distressing situations.

In 2024, I was honoured to receive a Gold Award at the kent Health & Beauty Awards in recognition of my work.

I am also the author of The Grief Healing Journal, created to gently support people through loss with compassion and care.

Outside of work

Outside of work, I am an animal lover and share my home with my husband, our two dogs and Cat. They bring comfort and a lot of personality to everyday life! When I am not working, you'll find me, with my head in a book studying and surrounded by my pets. I also have 3 grown up children and 1 Grandchild.

I also facilitate twice monthly Grief support groups. One in Rochester and the other group in Newington. It offers a safe supportive space for the community to connect, share and heal together.

I believe therapy should feel human, compassionate, and free from judgement. My aim is to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, seen, understood and supported, wherever they are in their journey.
